Marble is the ultimate luxury statement in a room but this comes with a high price and im not only talking money. Marble is a very fussy floor type and has some very special care instructions especially if you want to keep it in great shape.
There is nothing that is as elegant as is marble, it's so timeless, it comes in so many different colors which are made for flooring. The problem with marble is it is very prone to staining and to add to that problem is the fact that we cannot just use any type of cleaner to clean it.
To start with, make sure you stay away from any type of harsh cleaners, for example, anything acidic. Marble is a very delicate flower and anything that is acidic in any way is going to damage the surface forever. Stay away from any abrasive cleaning pads as well. Vacuum cleaners have also been known to scratch the surface of marble. As you would normally do with a hardwood floor, make sure that before testing a new cleaning method, make sure to test the solution on an inconspicuous spot that is far out of view.
Keep dust on your marble floor to an absolute minimum. Having dust on your floor while you walk on it is going to cause scratches. The easiest way to keep up with the dust is to use a flat microfiber dust mop from www.amazon.com/. Give your marble floor a deep clean at least once a month and, make sure whatever cleaning agent you use has a neutral PH.
One of the best ways to reduce the number of stains that end up on your marble floor is to prevent any type of water from sitting on the surface of the floor. The reason why stains happen is that if you leave any type of liquid on the surface of the floor it soaks into the marble thereby staining it.
If you happen to miss a stain and only notice it when it is too late then you're going to need to take a more serious approach. Some of the most common stains and causes of stains on marble floors are from foods such as fruit, tea, and coffee. To clean off these kinds of stains simply use a solution of 12% hydrogen peroxide and some ammonia. Once you have mixed the solution, pour enough of it over the stain and let it sit for between 15 to 25 minutes. Then once that time is up, flush with water. If at the end of that you are still left with some marks then apply some marble polishing powder and buff it out with a damp microfiber mop.
