CS UNIFORMS
Uniforms of the Confederate Army varied widely during the war depending on location, time period, and manufacturer. Materials and colors were very diverse, often even within a single unit. Quality varied greatly, and soldiers often relied on items from home or captured (and sometimes dyed and reworked) Union items. These prices are for wool uniforms:
Columbus Depot Shell Jacket - this was common in the western army,
and documented to Florida troops, single outside pocket $125.00
Richmond Depot Shell Jacket - this was common in the eastern army,
was cut longer in the waist, inside pocket $145.00
Sack Coat - this was a U.S. jacket that had been bleached, given
a stand-up collar, 3 extra button holes and re-dyed for C.S. use $85.00
Frock Coat - this single-breasted dress coat was often used by
company-grade officers, but seldom on enlisted men $230.00
Frock Coat, Double-Breasted Officer pattern - worn by staff officers,
often with branch-of-service trim and gallion sleeve braid $260.00
Trousers, foot pattern - button fly, sideseam pockets $85.00
Trousers, mounted pattern - double seat, button fly, sideseam
pockets $95.00
Greatcoat, foot pattern - wool coat with wool cape, stand-up
collar, single-breasted, turn-down cuffs $200.00
Greatcoat, mounted pattern - wool coat with longer wool cape,
lay-down collar, double-breasted, turn-down cuffs $250.00
Issue Shirt - four-button pullover shirt in muslin or colored cotton $30.00
Military Vest - wool front, cotton or muslin back, stand-up collar,
two pockets, tie in back $55.00
